Our Story
Cennairus pronounced “senn – air – us” is actually quite a simple word, with a long story. It is an anagram for the word INSURANCE.
After spending countless hours, days and months working with small and large advertising agencies to create exactly my vision, I became frustrated. My incredible staff worked with me on nights and weekends to create the perfect name, for others this time spent was foolish. I became more frustrated. I contacted a company in California who had created names for pharmaceutical and internet companies which I liked. After reviewing their pricing structure, agreements, and the scope of the project, I quickly decided I was never going to get this expense approved by my then partners. Finally, while sitting on a plane, I had an idea. I asked the steward for some napkins and spelled the word insurance in large letters, tore them out and began to play my own game of scrabble. The man sitting next to me stared at me with disbelief as I sat there from LA to Houston. As we were landing, I came up with the word CENNARIUS which didn’t really work for me, but it was the only word I had come up with during the 3 hour flight. I called my office to check in and while speaking to Janis it hit me – CENNAIRUS. I asked Janis to do an internet search on the word. I had to spell it at least 3 times which was an immediate concern. Janis asked me what it meant and I explained – she then came back and said there were NO matches. I was absolutely shocked, finally the search was over. I had created the name which was in line with my vision. Cennairus was simple, yet unforgettable and due to its derivation would allow us the flexibility to market a variety of insurance products and services. Some argue the origin and date the first insurance transaction was consummated – I have read sometime in the early 1300’s. I tell you this because I am very proud to know that in approximately 700 odd years, I was the first person to rearrange the word INSURANCE.
Cennairus was formed in 2004 as the wholesale arm of Risk Services, LLC and PBOA, Inc. owned by George Harris, Mike Rogers, Jon Harkavy and myself. After working with them for several years, I negotiated the purchase of Cennairus, LLC and finalized the deal June 23rd, 2006. We moved out of their offices immediately and have expanded the operations to include new offices in Minnesota and New Jersey. We have created new and exciting programs and have several more planned for 2007. We continue to expand our partners and our programs to deliver innovative initiatives in a variety of industries. We look forward to our continued growth and working with all of our partner agencies, payroll bureaus and carriers.
